Description :
This paper describes major regional processes that control the movement of water and sediment into and through the Orinoco delta and along the coast. To do so, the AA. integrate information generated by an extensive literature review, satellite image and historical aerial photograph analyses, and a series of delta expeditions. The AA. briefly describe the geomorphic features and associated water and sediment dynamics of the Orinoco drainage basin and river system. Finally, they summarize major regional processes controlling Orinoco delta ecosystem integrity.
