Description :
This paper discusses the changes in fluvial dynamics that started from Late Pleistocene and Early Holocene due to distinct climatic changes. The discussion is based on geomorphological, pedological, and archaeological evidences and radiocarbon dating. Two of the main causes of disequilibrium that occurred after the last deglaciation are presented : climatic modification at the end of the last glacial maximum; human occupation of the plain beginning from the Neolithic Age. The population increase produced not only a reduction in wilderness but also intense land-use changes, particularly after the Second World War.
