Twenty years of data on climate-permafrost-active layer variations at the lower limit of alpine permafrost, Marmot Basin, Jasper National Park, Canada

Auteur :
HARRIS, S.A.

Description :
This paper describes the results from Marmot basin borehole N°2., which lies on a bench on the upper slope of Marmot Mountain. It is of particular interest because of the materials it penetrates, the topographic situation, and its proximity to the lower limit of continuous permafrost. The 20-year record permits the identification of 2 new processes in heat transfer in the ground which have not previously been demonstrated in the natural environment.
