Description :
The AA. attempt to relate the distinctly different morphological features of the vertisols in the southwestern and northeastern parts of the Purna Valley to their genesis on the basis of existing physical, chemical, mineralogical and micromorphological data held by the Soil Resource Studies Division. The vertisols of the southwestern part of the Purna Valley are, therefore, polygenetic because they exhibit distinctly different soil properties resulting from increasing aridity in the valley during the late Holocene.
