Białowieża Forest, Poland : representation, myth, and the politics of dispossession

Auteur :
FRANKLIN, S.

Description :
The paper uses a continuing dispute over the management of that forest to raise the power of representation and myth to minority interests or to prioritise one social perspective over another. This enquiry is relevant in the context of European unification. It poses the question : to what extent does state power adequately protect its people against the specious claims of local actors who employment practices and Internet networking to pressurise the state ?
