Description :
The AA. describe the shifting patterns of ethnic minority groups in the largest cities (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht) between 1980 and 1998. They focus on the policy response to these patterns and briefly evaluate this response. Ethnic concentrations are not problematic in themselves, but policy can significantly enhance the situation of the inhabitants of specific neighbourhoods.
