Taking a moment to bask in our past : six decades of APCG and AAG presidential addresses
Auteur :DATEL, R.E.
Description :
A la Van Loo's lives, A. makes a strong case for the need for ongoing conservations with people who are not our contemporaries. She converses with some of the (actual and honorary) presidents of the two geography organizations between 1939-40 and 1998-99. Examining all 115 presidential addresses, she looks for what is American about american geography and what is Pacific about Pacific Coast geography. A. covers a wealth of detail in pointing out the similarities and differences among the presidential address (and presidents) of the two associations ; in general, the APCG addresses have had more emphasis on human-environmental relationships. - (SLD)
