Description :
The development and the present state of surface water quality in the Cidlina River catchment area, the rightside affluent of the Labe (Elbe) River is discussed. The river is 90 km long, its catchment area covers 1177 km2. Since medieval time, the landscape has been intensively used for agriculture with 58% of arable land and 18% forest only. During the last decade, a significant reduction of wastewater discharge occurred. - (MS)
