Description :
As AA. state one of the fundamental requirements of increasing cohesion within the European Union is the creation of direct continental transport routes between the core regions and the periphery. Paper investigates the transport connection of the peninsulas of Southern Europe with the rest of Europe. Beside the historical development of existing transport connections, the ongoing developments and future plans are described and their possible outcomes are examined. - (JS)
