One important aspect of the changing industrial geography of South Africa is the appearance of abandoned industrial spaces. In this paper the focus is upon the de-industrialising spaces of North West province which were formerly advantaged under the apartheid decentralisation programme and have been left out of the current development strategy. - (AJC)
