Description :
Using optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) and radiocarbon dating, the AA. infer chronology of eolian activity during the late Quaternary. The results indicate that the dunes are of multiple ages and were primarily active during glacial stages. Holocene activity was likely limited to reworking of thick dune crests. Four sites representing these dunes have been selected for study. Two are along streams that have headwaters in the Piedmont, and two are along streams entirely within the Coastal Plain.
