Long Plio-Pleistocene terrestrial record of climate change and mammal turnover in southern Spain

Description :
The data from the Zújar section (Guadix-Baza Basin, southeastern Spain) provides a biostratigraphic, magnetostratigraphic, and cyclostratigraphic framework for studying the evolution of the Pliocene terrestrial ecosystems in the western Mediterranean region. The cyclostratigraphic analysis has enabled the recognition of a number of climatically forced cycles reflecting alternating dry and wet periods. Discussion of the results : significant mammal turnover.
