In his thesis the author analyses the category space as a part of social communication and symbolic representation. In the first part of a general and socio-theoretical framework for the interpretation of the theory is set. For that, the epistemological constructivism is used as a basis and will be extented by the theory of social systems by Luhmann. Through a brief analysis of objects the second part attempts to arrive at a sketch of space-related semantics. In addition the approach of critical geopolitics is analysed. In conclusion concepts of space-related semantics both in its formal and functional aspects are sketched out. - (IfL)
