The distribution and thickness of pleistocene periglacial cover-beds depend on different relief parameters, the petrography of the underground and the development of the landscape. These dependences are the basis to model the potential distribution and thickness of the cover-beds for the mesoscalic area of the northern Eifel. The results of the model show a potentially larger thickness and distribution in areas with less uplift and a larger distance to the receiving stream. The approach presents possibilities for modelling sediment solely on the basis of terrain and geological data. - (IfL)
