Transnational migratory biographies between Croatia and Germany

South eastern European countries on their way to Europe : geographical aspects

Auteurs :
GOEKE, P.
HENKEL, R.

Description :
So-called traditional theories of international migration have been criticized by a couple of scholars. A new type of migrant is emerging : transmigrants, i.e. migrants who align their biographies along the horizons of at least two nation states. The article presents exemplary biographies of migrants who managed over a considerable length of time to be involved in more than just one locality and discusses diverse questions about extent and structures of transnational relations (family, economic, educational, legal etc.) and the ways of multiple integration in spatially seperated contexts. - (IfL)
