Are mangrove forest substrates sediments or soils ? A case study in southeastern Brazil

Morphological and analytical data corresponding to several profiles from 2 mangrove systems in the Brazilian state of São Paulo were examined for evidence of pedogenetic processes. The AA. demonstrate that in these 2 estuarine systems active pedogenetic processes have led to modification of the substrates to soil.
