A call for Australian loess

Auteur :
HABERLAH, D.

Description :
The aim of this paper is to challenge the prevailing belief among many Australian geoscientists that loess is primarily a periglacial phenomenon. The argument put forward here is that loess-generating environments are essentially semi-arid, a climatic condition characterizing vast tracts of the Australian continent during the late Pleistocene. To begin with, a definition of loess to include that of the continental context is suggested.
