Auteur :
PREBILIČ, V.

Description :
The African continent has been faced with all manner of problems for several decades : constant lack of food and potable water, presence of different infectious diseases, absence of medical systems and appropriate help, extremely low economic development, huge colonial burden, global climate changes, etc. However, the already hard life in the poorest parts of Africa is additionally affected by the absence of peace. After decolonization, carried out by the UN, a very special form of African warfare has developed. Armed engagements are not very intensive and normally do not directly cause numerous casualties. They lead to the well-thought and strategically coordinated operations whose main goal is to deteriorate even the poorest living conditions. Such intrastate ways of warfare are based on ethnical differences. Nowadays more and more international organizations like UN, ECOWAS, AU are involved in the conflict prevention and conflict management in Africa. they all want to achieve long-lasting peace and make economic development of the African continent possible. Thus, the main reasons for the previous and still lasting conflicts have not been properly researched and eleminated. - (IKR)
