Based on the climate recordings of the station Barnaul the process of global warming can be registered on Southwest Siberia. Since the beginning of the recordings the average annual temperature has risen by 2.8°C. The speed of increase is considerably higher since 1955. In particular the spring temperatures rises, while the differences of temperatures between summer and winter remains steady. If the climatic trends in Southwest Siberia still follow this way, the agriculturally used steppe areas are threatened urgently by desertification. - (IFL)
