Regional management plays an ever-increasing important role as a cooperative instrument governing regional development ; however, the effects of regulation on development of regions in Eastern Germany are marginal. The reasons are deficits in conceptual design, specific restraints for the implementation of cooperative approaches in poorly structured regions and the practice of evaluating regional management that is not aligned with central aspects (e.g. processes of regional co-operation). Therefore the goal is to find more suitable methods for assessing and registering the effects of regulation of regional management. As an example, an approach by a regional development agency in Saxony-Anhalt is presented. - (IFL)
