Description :
A stream habitat survey (SHS) using the overview survey and the on-site survey developed by the Working Group of the Federal States on Water Issues (LAWA) was carried out in the city of Berlin, Germany. The results reflect the anthropogenic pressure on an urban aquatic ecosystem. On average, the surveyed 209.4 km of river lengths are heavily disturbed due to man-made influences. However, even in a heavily populated city like Berlin spots of undisturbed or only slightly disturbed nature still persists. - (IFL)
