The vegetation on Tenerife today has been subjected to dramatic changes due to climatic change, to volcanic and to human activities. The essay brings to a focal point the recording of different kinds of vegetation by using methods of remote sensing combined with multivariate analyses for Tenerife as an example. The goal of the studies was to construct a vegetation classification for Tenerife which is based on its physiognomic, ecological and plant-sociological criteria as well as cartographical illustration of the distribution of the defined classes by creating vegetation maps based on remote sensing analyses. - (IFL)
