Sweden and the Baltic Sea Region co-operation. Contribution to territorial cohesion and sustainable development together with the new member states and Russia

The reflections are focused on the results from three transnational macro-regions projects around the Baltic Sea, in which old and new member states of the EU are comprised. The political and professional networks in the three areas were concolidated and there are ambitions to develop more concrete topics and to prepare the ground for strategic investments in the next phase. Further important issues for the succeeding transnational programmes (2007-2013) are raised, especially the cooperation with non-member states in the future. It will be fundamental to get Kaliningrad oblast fully participating in all ERN activities. - (IFL)
