Ballungsräume und Notstandsgebiete : Kernräume und Peripherien in der nationalsozialistischen Raumordnung.

Concentration de la population et régions sinistrées : centres et périphéries dans l'aménagement du territoire national-socialiste

Auteur :
FEHN, K.

Description :
Dealing with the relation between core areas and peripheries as a concept, the article points out the ideological roots of contemporary German distiction categories, dating back to the national socialist period. The terms Ballungsraum (areas of high population) and Notstandsgebiet (distressed area) played a decisive role within the former area of the Reich. The target of national socialist spatial planning was to achieve a more balanced relationship between core areas and peripheries, whereby new core areas such as Upper Silesia were to be established and peripheries were to be reinforced by giving an ideologically preferential treatments to farming. - (IFL)
