Start-ups in knowledge-intensive services contribute decisively to national and regional structural change. The A. analyses the foundation pattern of such services, their regional ties and their functional integration, supported by measures of regional innovation governance. Taking the example of the innovation system of Bremen, it will be shown which regional supply and demand conditions support the emergence and development of knwoledge-intensive service firms. - (IFL)
