Description :
Detailed surveys of surface water in 2 contrasting peri-urban areas in the Yangtze River Delta region of China were conducted to determine the distribution of heavy metals, nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) as well as the speciation of N and P. A factory-based area (FB) was compared with a vegetable-based (VB) area during the dry season. Based on these results, the AA. evaluate the quality of the surface water as irrigation sources in the dry season, explore the possible sources of pollution and propose strategies to protect surface water quality.
