For establishing the realistic earthquake threat in Hungary the sequence of prehistoric earthquakes need to be known. For this the interval covered by records is too short period, significant earth movements should be known for the last 10-20 thousand years. A promising area of research is presented by cave dripstones to uncover possible past earthquakes. - (JS)
