Tibor Mendöl was founder of the Hungarian settlement geography and professor of Budapest University in the middle of the 20th century. He did research about the internal functional and morphological structure of Hungarian towns, and the development of the national settlement system. This paper provides an overview about his life - work and impact on the development of Hungarian geography in the 20th century. - (JS)
