The marketing of the tourist site is an activity pursued by local authorities with a view to attracting producers from the outside who are interested in spending their money in the tourism sector. The investment in tourist facilities is often the only chance many local communities have to stimulate the development of their economies and improve the quality of life of inhabitants. This paper is concerned with Płock, a town whose authorities have focused on the development of tourism as an instrument by which to drive the urban economy. Płock has many interesting and valuable tourist attractions, as well as a large number of tourists visiting it every year. The number of both attractions and tourists is quite sufficient to attract investors. The paper shows how the use of methods in the marketing of a tourist site can allow authorities to plan to arouse producer' interest in being involved in the development of the tourism product of Płock. - (BJ)
