Voting with their feet : population trends and policy-making in the Free State Province
Auteurs :MARAIS, L.
PELSER, A.
Description :
Apartheid planning significantly influenced settlement patterns and urbanisation trends in South Africa. With the demise of apartheid and the normalisation of black urbanisation, new trends started to emerge. Post-apartheid demographic trends in the Free State are examined, with regard to growth of small to medium sized towns, mainly due to farm worker urbanisation. The link with Lesotho and the HIV/AIDS impact and planning issues are also explored. - (AJC)
