Tephrostratigraphy of the Bedded Tuff Member (Kapthurin Formation, Kenya) and the nature of archaeological change in the later middle Pleistocene

Description :
The AA. emphasize here data from the Kapthurin Formation of Kenya and detail a stratigraphic framework for a succession of volcanic tephra and archaeological sites that provides the means to assess temporal change across the Acheulian Middle Stone Age (MSA) transition. Combined evidence from the tools and flake production methods suggest an incremental and mosaic pattern of change in hominin adaptive strategies during the Acheulian MSA transition.
