Starting from the physical fundamentals of the anthropogenic influence on meteorological processes, in the first part the interactions between the land surface and the atmosphere in towns and industrial areas are described. The second part deals with the urban atmosphere over Berlin. In the third part are used an energy balance model and an one-dimensional boundary layer model to find out anthropogenic factors for developing of urban heat islands. - (IH)
