Solute budgets and denudation rate estimates for a mid-wales catchment

Description :
Input-output budgets for thirteen solutes for a small moorland catchment in upland mid-wales show a net loss of all chemical elements from the catchment except hydrogen ion and inorganic nitrogen. These two are being assimilated by the catchment. The solute budgets are affected by geochemical processes occurring within the catchment. A solutional denudation rate estimate of 2.9B is derived from the silicon budget and a denudation rate of 3.5 B from the loss of suspended sediment and bedload from the catchment.
