Foreshore depositional patterns along the Rhode Island southshore

Description :
The application of third-order polynomials to define statistically the sediment cumulative frequency distributions for sample stations along the Rhode Island southshore illustrates a sedimentation pattern that follows the direction of longshore sediment transport. The source of beach sediment however appears to be from a number of glacial headlands found along the shoreline. The cyclic occurrence of sediment distributions at points appears to coincide with zones of divergent wave refraction.
