The Hare Krishna movement, which arrived in the USA in 1965, constructed a large temple to Krishna and elaborate palace for the swami, both near Wheeling, West Virginia. In 1982, more than 300 000 people visited this place. The complex conforms to several of the characteristics of Hindu sacred sites in India. - (DWG)
