The studies in this two countries are examined and the general characteristics of this two countries are summaries in the following four points. (1) Most studies concentrated on the functions of corporate headquarters and placed little importance on those of branch offices. (2) There are strong emphases upon the numbers of employees as well as those of employers. (3) There is acute awareness of the need for decentralization of office functions, and relocation of industries. Numerous studies are policy-oriented. (4) There are few time-series analyses. - (KA)
