To enable conclusions about rainfall events during the Younger Holocene and their consequences, numerable soil profiles were analyzed. The most important result is the gully formation during the first half of the 14th century. Gullies more than 10 m deep were cut into arable land on slopes and in valleys. A second though less severe phase of gully erosion caused by heavy rainfall occured in the 18th century. - (l'A)
