On central place studies in Japan

Description :
This study aims to review the development of central place studies in Japan. He indicates that two major research directions can be recognized in central place studies in Japan. One direction aims to elucidate structural characteristics of the Japanese central place system. Second direction of study has made effort to introduce quantitative approaches in Anglo-Saxon geography. Both directions of central place studies have developped in parallel, though over time the quantitative approach has become greater emphasized. - (KA)
