Description :
The special conditions for eolian processes forming dunes in extreme polar regions are discussed in comparison to other climatic zones. Dune forms in the Victoria Valley are described and their origin studied by measuring procedures in the field and by analyses in the laboratory. Sand movements directly on the surface of the dune relief and sand drift within the air above ground are determined at different wind velocities. Additionally, migration of dune ridges in relation to wind velocities was measured during the summer. (l'A)
