Measurement of tectonic rock strain in Iceland

Description :
The AA. applied the overcoring method to determine in-situ rock deformation by means of strain gage rosettes at 20 sites located within the area of active rifting. They determined numerous changes in the amount and the orientation of the maximum and minimum horizontal crustal strain and consider these stress fluctuations to be caused by the pulsation of the Krafla volcanic centre.
