Description :
The importance of geomorphology within the process of soil survey is illustrated empirically for test areas and discussed in the light of current practices of soil survey for land-use planning purposes. The limits to the use of geomorphological information are discussed : it has to be interpreted by rather than reflected in a soil classification.
