By order of the electorate of Saxony the first national survey was started in summer 1586. The mine surveyor M. Oder and B. Zimmermann have worked about 50 years on this project. The result consists of maps with a scale of 1:13 333. The map series exceed all contemporary national mappings concerning size, contents and accuracy. - (IH)
