Landslides and their role in reservoir silting

Landslides influence the process of reservoir filling - directly, by the transfer of material from the slope to lacustine basin - indirectly when reactivation of the surface of the whole basin produces increases in the bedload of the reservoir tributaries. Methods are given for estimating the landslide contribution. Case study on the Izvoru Muntelui Reservoir from the Bistrita Valley (Oriental Carpathians, Romania).
