Description :
The concept of food system can be found in the scientific literature of the 1970s. The scope of the concept can be extended to include social and economic relationships as proper elements of the system. The approach presented above seeks to identify all the interrelated factors that directly or indirectly determine the flows of food and related inputs. The discussion is centred on the spatial extent of the systems.
