Essai de cartographie morphologique détaillée dans une montagne de haute latitude. Exemple des îles Lofoten, Norvège du Nord

Auteur :
PEULVAST, J. P.

Description :
Three detailed morphological maps of the Lofoten Islands are published. Their key is especially established for a representation of relief and detail forms in high latitude coastal mountains. Owing to their scale, the show only local or large scale structural patterns. But their aim is rather to show the place of various glacial and periglacial forms in the landscapes among inherited preglacial landforms strongly influenced by differential physico-chemical weathering, and more or less modified by glacierization. These maps have first been drawn for a study of the so-called strandflat: this coastal platform too is characterised by a superposition of inherited forms, more or less enriched by past and present marine processes. The interest of this mapping method in this kind of study is discussed. (L'Ed.).
