Description :
The resurgence of nationalism in Scotland is a sort of response to the decline of the British economy. The AA. relate the electoral rise of the Scottish National Party in the early 1970 s to post-war industrial change. Old urban working class were broken up by socio-economic changes, both at home and in the factory, and the economic power and organizational base of the labour movement was weakened. This chapter analyses the relationship between changing political geographies and industrial structure.
