Following is a review of soviet economic performance in 1984 in the energy industries, and the annual plan for 1985, which is the last year of the 11-th five-year plan (1981-1985). Since 1980, the Soviet Union has ceased publishing detailed regional data for the production of oil, natural gas and coal, and some figures in the following tables have been estimated to yield a more or less coherent picture of the regional distribution of production. The regional breakdown reflects the allocation of the Bashkir ASSR from the Volga economic region (in European Russia) to the Urals economic region, according to a reorganization of economic regions announced in November 1982.
