Plate motion may be measured in situ as subsidence at trenches

Auteur :
NAKAMURA, K.

Description :
The motion of the oceanic plates may be directly measured at trenches as the subsidence and possibly tilting rate though the intraplate deformations may affect the measure of long distances. A case is introduced where a part of the downgoing plate is emerged above sea-level in the Izu peninsula near the trench axis.
