Structures de population et tables de survie des buffles, topis et cobs de Buffon au Parc National des Virunga, Zaïre

The age structure and sex ratio of the populations of African Buffalo, Topi and Uganda Kob living in the plains South of lake Amin were studied in 1978-79. The results are compared with others from East African parks. Life tables and survival curves derived from the skulls found in the park are given for both sexes of African Buffalo and Topi, and for male Uganda Kobs. Despite poaching, the population structure of the three ungulate species concerned has remained very similar to what it was twenty years before (Bourlière and Verschuren, 1960).
