Description :
Since 1850, ground water is extracted from the Luchter Dunes, the southern part of a 3300 ha large coastal dune area in the province of South-Holland, by means of two drainage canals. Subsequently, the rich biotic of the wet dune slacks disappeared. This paper reports on research into the possibilities of restoring the natural hydrology of the area and rehabilitate the wet dune slack ecosystem.
